Folaldafoss is not as famous as the other waterfalls we cover in this guide: it seldom gets mentioned in travel guides and there's not enough information about the waterfall on the internet. However, Folaldafoss is surprisingly beautiful and can easily compete with other waterfalls in the area.
Folaldafoss is located north of Hofn and south of Egilsstadir. From route 1, take a steep, unpaved mountain road 939, which leads directly to the waterfall. The road is bumpy, but it's very picturesque: you'll drive past amazing views of the green masses of high rocks and numerous waterfalls.
Folaldafoss is a small waterfall of only 16 meters. In Icelandic, the name Folaldafoss translates as a “cub waterfall."
A stream of water funnels through a narrow gap and plunges into a small bowl with a blue pool at its foot.
