Iceland is worth visiting at least twice: in the summer and winter seasons. In my opinion, the best months are September and February.
At the end of the summer season there is still no heavy rain and all roads are open. But the number of tourists is decreasing, and the tundra is painted with bright autumn colors, and on clear nights you can already see the northern lights.
In winter, you can see frozen waterfalls and a sky dotted with stars, which can illuminate with the northern lights at any moment. You can also visit the Jokulsarlon ice caves.
Following Route 1, which circles the island, you will be able to capture an incredible variety of landscapes.
The best way to travel in Iceland is by SUV. It will be possible to visit the center of the island: lava fields, rhyolite mountains, volcanic lakes and much more.
